Data protection policy
What we collect, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to get it back or have it deleted. Written to be read, not to be scrolled past.
Who we are
This site and this centre are operated by MENTORA LEARNING CENTRE PTE. LTD., a company incorporated in Singapore. Everywhere this policy says "we", "us" or "the centre", it means that company. We are responsible under the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (the PDPA) for the personal data described below.
What we collect
When you send us an enquiry
The enquiry form on our site asks for five things. Three are required, two are optional:
- Your name
- Your mobile number
- Your email address
- Your child's level — optional
- Anything you want to tell us about your child — optional, free text
We deliberately do not ask for your child's name on the form. We ask for it on the call, if you decide to go ahead.
When we call you back
On that call we may note your child's name, the subjects you are after, what you would like help with, and when a trial lesson would suit. That is the same record as your enquiry, added to.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for NRIC or FIN numbers, addresses, dates of birth, or payment details in order to enquire. We do not buy contact lists.
A note about the free-text box
The box marked "anything we should know" is where parents most often mention a child by name, alongside things like a learning difficulty, exam pressure or a diagnosis. Information about a child is treated as sensitive and given a higher standard of protection than the rest. You are welcome to leave that box empty and tell us on the call instead.
Why we collect it
Two purposes, and no others:
- To respond to your enquiry and contact you about tuition places, class schedules and fees.
- To keep a record of the enquiry itself.
Your email address is collected as a backup way to reach you about this enquiry — for a mistyped number, an unanswered call, or a parent who would rather read than talk. It is not a mailing list, and nothing is sent to it automatically. We do not sell or rent your details to anyone, ever.
Consent, and taking it back
You give consent by submitting the enquiry form, having read the purpose statement shown beside it. That is the only consent needed for us to answer you.
Marketing is separate, and optional
The tickbox offering news about new classes, holiday programmes and promotions is a separate consent, unticked by default, and you choose which channels it applies to. Leaving it untouched has no effect on your enquiry, on your place, or on how quickly we call you back. We will not send you marketing on a channel you did not pick.
Withdrawing
You can withdraw any consent at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will act on it and confirm back to you. Withdrawing marketing consent stops the marketing; withdrawing consent entirely means we delete your enquiry and can no longer contact you about a place.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become a student: 12 months, then deleted. Twelve months covers a full academic year, so an enquiry that went quiet in June is still on file when the next school year starts and a parent's mind changes.
- Students who join us: kept for as long as your child is with us, as the record of what you asked for and agreed to, and then in line with our retention practice.
Who else sees it
Nobody buys it and nobody borrows it. Two companies hold it on our behalf so that the site works and the enquiry reaches us:
- Google Workspace — where your enquiry is stored.
- Cloudflare — serves this site and runs the anti-spam verification on the enquiry form.
Both process data on servers outside Singapore. We have published a written summary of how it is protected to a standard comparable to the PDPA: where your data is stored. Please read it — your consent on the enquiry form depends on it having been available to you first.
How we protect it
Access to the enquiry record is limited to the people who need it to answer you or teach your child. It is not posted anywhere public and it is not shared with other parents.
Specific technical and organisational controls will be stated here once they are settled.
Asking to see it, or correcting it
You can ask us what personal data we hold about you and your child, how we have used it, and you can ask us to correct anything wrong. Email [email protected] and we will respond as soon as we reasonably can. There is no charge for a straightforward request.

Every organisation in Singapore must appoint a Data Protection Officer and publish how to reach them. There is no exemption for small businesses, and ours is:

Use that address for anything on this page: access, correction, withdrawal, deletion, or a complaint. If we cannot resolve it between us, you can raise it with the Personal Data Protection Commission at pdpc.gov.sg.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle personal data, we update this page and change the date below. Where a change affects what you already consented to, we will ask you again rather than assume.
